BIAB Explained

Everything you need to know about Builder In A Bottle (BIAB) and how it helps grow your natural nails.

What is BIAB and how does it work?

BIAB (Builder In A Bottle) is a strong, soak-off structured gel that is applied over your natural nails to reinforce them. It cures hard under an LED light, creating a strong protective shell that is significantly more durable than regular gel polish.

This treatment is ideal for nail biters or people who find it hard to grow their natural nails, as it provides a hard barrier that prevents breaking, splitting, or bending.

How is BIAB different from acrylic or hard gel?

Unlike heavy acrylic extensions or traditional hard gels, BIAB is a soak-off gel and is applied thinner and more naturally. It isn't as heavy on the natural nail, which helps your natural nails grow longer whilst keeping them healthier underneath.

BIAB hardens the natural nail, creating the same beautiful, glossy look you'd expect from gel or acrylic nails without adding unnecessary bulk.

Do you refill BIAB?

Yes! One of the greatest benefits of BIAB is that it is simply refilled instead of being completely soaked off every single time, unlike regular gel polish.

The refill process requires the top coloured gel coat to be gently filed off to allow for fresh reapplication of BIAB to fill the new growth at the base of the natural nail. This prevents repeated dehydration of the natural nail bed.

Crucially, when you do want it removed, BIAB can be fully soaked off, as opposed to hard gel which must be filed completely off, protecting your natural nail plates from filing damage.

BIAB Frequently Asked Questions

Quick, direct answers about our BIAB treatments, booking, and nail care.

What is BIAB and how is it cured?
BIAB stands for Builder In A Bottle. It is a strong, structured builder gel that is applied over the natural nails. It cures hard under an LED light and is more durable than regular gel polish, preventing bending or breaking.
How does BIAB compare to acrylic or hard gel?
BIAB is a soak-off gel and is applied thinner than acrylic or hard gel, meaning it isn't as heavy on the natural nail plate. This helps your natural nails grow longer whilst keeping them healthier. It hardens the nail and matches the gel/acrylic look without the bulky weight.
Do you refill BIAB?
Yes, BIAB is simply refilled instead of soaked off every time, unlike regular gel polish. The refill process requires the coloured gel to be gently filed off to allow for reapplication of BIAB to fill the new growth of the natural nail.
Can BIAB be soaked off?
Yes. Unlike traditional hard gel, which must be fully filed down, BIAB can be safely and completely soaked off in acetone when you want it removed, which protects the natural nail plates from filing damage.
Is BIAB suitable for nail biters?
Yes, BIAB is highly recommended for nail biters or people who struggle to grow their natural nails. It hardens your natural nails, making them too tough to bite, and acts as a shield to allow the natural nails to grow underneath.
